3 Ways to Keep Healthy Weight Loss

Less Starch, Low-Sugar

The more carbs you consume, the more insulin your body secretes (and the more fat your body stores). When the starches and sugars are decreased in your diet, your insulin levels go down, and it is more difficult to store fat (and easier to burn it). You will also notice a decrease in bloating and water weight because the lower insulin levels help your kidneys get rid of the excess water and sodium (salt) in your body that cause bloating. In effect, a low-starch, low-sugar diet “automates” the fat-burning and weight loss processes in the body.

Balance Your Meals

While lower-carb diets are beneficial to most, we don’t expect or recommend patients completely eliminate anything from their diet. Instead, we focus on balancing meals (and the energy you get from them) between a fat source, a protein source, and a vegetable source in each meal. Don’t starve yourself or eliminate fat. Your body needs fat to survive and maintain its processes. When it comes to eating, it’s all about moderation, balance, and self-care.

Get Moving

Regular exercise has many health and wellness benefits, not the least of which are making you feel great— and helping you meet your healthy weight loss goals. Here is an example of an exercise routine that’s a good complement to a balanced diet.

  • Exercise 3-4 times a week. In each session, focus on:

    • Strength-training (building muscle helps you burn more fat and calories, even at rest)
